A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET 2: FREDDY'S REVENGE

SYNOPSIS

It's been 15 years since Freddy Krueger was burned to death and only 5 years since Nancy (from NOES1) and her friends were terrorised by him in their nightmares. After Nancy moved out of the house, Jesse and his family moved into 1428 Elm Street. Jesse starts to have bad dreams about (you guessed it!) a man in a red and green striped top with knives for fingers called Freddy Krueger. It is apparent that Freddy has found a new way to inflict his unique revenge style upon the children of Elm Street. After a nightmare about Jesse killing his gym teacher comes true, Jesse decides to do some research on Freddy and finds out all about him. By now, it is too late. Freddy can enter the real world by ripping Jesse's body open and this time, the victims don't have to be asleep to be killed! After dozens of people are killed at a party by Freddy, Jesse feels himself succumbing to Freddy's power lurking deep inside him and every now and again, a part of Freddy will show through (usually his razor-glove!) After his best friend and girlfriend are killed and after he finds himself nearly killing his little sister in his sleep, he decides to tackle Freddy head on. Whilst at the power plant where Freddy used to work, Lisa meets Jesse and makes him confront Freddy inside his body. Jesse manages to stop Freddy (still using Jesse's body) from killing Lisa and Freddy is pushed out of Jesse's body. With no body to possess, Freddy is (for the second time) forced to return to the dream world to recover. Jesse and Lisa live on and so does Freddy!

TRIVIA

Wes Craven was not involved in the script because he didn't like the fact that Freddy was forcing the main character to do bad things. Craven likes to have a definite hero and villain whereas, in this film, the two are always as one.

The town is given a name in this film. The directors wanted to call it Springfield but decided that, due to there being so many Springfields in America,  it would open up the possibilities of there being a Freddy Krueger or Coach Schneider living in one of them, which would give those people a bad name and therefore leading to law suits. They finally decided to change it to Springwood.

Several people class this film not as a real horror but about a boy who is struggling to deal with his homosexuality. This actually makes a lot of sense from the plot of a boy trying to hide or beat the 'monster' inside him to the ending with Lisa making Jesse confront this monster inside of him and make him come out in the open.

The original glove used in NOES1 was to be used in this film but it was stolen and so a new one had to be made.
