A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET 6: FREDDY'S DEAD: THE FINAL NIGHTMARE

SYNOPSIS

Freddy has finally met his goal. Every single child living in Springwood has been killed by Freddy in their nightmares and every parent living in Springwood has been driven to the edge of insanity. It has become a ghost town and it seems like Freddy has had his revenge. But what now? Freddy decides that he hasn't had quite enough revenge yet!

John Doe escaped from his hometown when his mother died and he meets up with Carlos, Maggie and Spencer when he decides to live in a halfway house for troubled teens. They see an article in the newspaper about Springwood and decide to visit there (along with Tracy and Doc, who run the halfway house) only to find the shattered remains of a formally highly populated town. As soon as they try to leave Springwood, they find that they cannot. They go round in circles for hours after deciding to sleep the night in a derelict house. 1428 Elm Street (of course!).

Joe Doe continues to have nightmares about being in a falling building and his only escape route, out of the window. Carlos has a dream in which Freddy turns his hearing-aid into a super-sensitive crab monster so that his head explodes if any sound is made! Spencer falls asleep in front of the TV and then finds himself sucked into it and stuck inside a computer game being controlled by Freddy who responds with "Great graphics!"

One by one, the Springwood visitors are reduced to John Doe and Maggie and they find out that one of them is Freddy's child. John Doe is convinced that he is Freddy's son and has another dream about jumping from a falling house window with a parachute. When opening up the parachute, Freddy comes flying down from the inside and grabs onto the cables. As he starts to cut them, John Doe tells him he can't kill his own son. Freddy tells him that he is not his son and lets him fall to his death (after kindly putting out a bed of nails to break his fall!).

This leaves us with the fact that Maggie is Freddy's daughter. After dragging Freddy through a dream and into the real world, Maggie, Doc and Tracy end up in Freddy's boiler-room and set out to destroy Freddy once and for all. After Freddy trying desperately to convince Maggie to take over Freddy's job and become the new killer Krueger, Maggie pins him to the wall with his own glove and puts a stick of dynamite in his wound. The gang run and Freddy is blown to smithereens, never to return again! (Until NOES7 and Freddy VS Jason, that is!)

TRIVIA

Freddy was taunted as a child by other kids who knew how he was conceived and called him "son of a hundred maniacs".

Freddy's step father would beat him with a belt. Freddy began to enjoy the pain.

Freddy now has the ability to enter the dreams of anyone who falls asleep in Springwood, he is no longer limited to just the Elm Street kids. Since we never see anything about Alice and her son it is possible that he killed them and got their power to enter everyone's dreams.

Freddy was given his power by dream demons who look for the most twisted human that they can find and give him the power to turn nightmares into reality.

When the unfortunate John Doe falls onto a bed of nails his body in the real world gets covered in holes that fill with blood. The effect was done with a fiberglass torso that had a mechanism that sucked down the holes and filled them with blood.

The final battle with Freddy was shot in 3D. Rachel Talalay did not want to use that gimmick, but the marketing guys over-ruled her. Everything from when Maggie puts on the 3D glasses until she takes them off was the 3D part of time movie. Audience members were told to put the glasses on when she did.

Robert Englund's most over-the-top performance as Freddy!

During the end credit sequence several memorable moments from previous films are shown. One of them is Freddy's collapsing chest sequence from NOES4 with the bare breasted soul.
