Knoebel's Fall Show in Elysburg, PA

Roller Coaster enthusiasts far and wide are familiar with a great, not too big, family oriented park nestled in Elysburg, PA known as Knoebel’s. This is an old fashioned variety amusement park, unlike the larger “factory parks” where there is something for everyone to enjoy, a relaxed atmosphere, and the ability to bring the entire family without having to take out a small bank loan.

Each year the park has an event known as the Phoenix Phall Phunfest (named after one of its coasters) which they combine with several community oriented activities. In addition to great riding on their coasters and other rides such as their haunted mansion dark ride, the entire park is decorated for Halloween. To further promote the involvement of the community, they also hold a huge craft fair featuring local businesses and a car show. As you enter the park, there is an endless variety of delicious smells from the various food booths, plus row after

row of tents housing wooden crafts, home made baskets, Christmas decorations, etc. It’s amazing the amount of skill and detail these folks put into their work. Needless to say, vendors selling home made apple cobblers and BBQ creations doesn’t hurt either!

Combine a weekend like this with an all makes style car show, and how could you possibly go wrong? You can’t. The advantage to this includes seeing cars you wouldn’t normally see, get to munch on great local food and drinks, and take your time as most of the folks

were very interested in discussing their cars and whatever stories they had to go with them. Knoebel’s devoted the first several rows of their parking lot so that the cars were adjacent to the entrance. They also provided a special travel way so that the show cars could go through to the show spaces without being tied up in the parking traffic that was trying to get to either the craft event or to the
