GUN CAPITAL OF MIDLANDS In a recent study by Reform, an indepedant 'thinktank' - Northampton has the third highest gun crime rate in England and Wales, only behind northern cities Bradford and Leeds. Northampton takes over Nottingham's title and came 17th in the most crime ridden cities in England/Wales. |

N0. 19 FOR 2004 Northampton has made it to 19 in the most dangerous cities in England for town and cities. In 2003 it was also in 19th place with crime overall dropping all around the country. City Of Westminster tops the list again whilst Nottingham, Camden and Islington follow. New entry into the top ten saw North East town Middlesbrough make number 8 on the list. |

MUGGERS PARADISE ON
RACECOURSE The Racecourse has come under fire, again, this time after a spate of attacks from gangs in broad daylight and at night. In one incident a man was beaten whilst passers by walked past. Muggings, bricks through car windows have all contributed to a crime ridden feeling in the area. |

ETNIC POPULATION UP New statistics show in a 2006 estimated ethnic population change, Northampton growing a 2% ethnic change from 2001. 1 in 10 are now of a different ethnic makeup (10%) compared to 8% five years ago. St Crispin remains the highest with 20% followed by Castle and Lumbertubs with 19%. |
