Going out to eat |
Cheapest places to go for something to eat
are ofcourse the fastfoodrestaurants ( Quick and Mc Donalds),
also Pizza Hutt, Delifrance and Panos are cheap and found all over
town. The area around Central Station has a great variety of
restaurants from all over the world. Also Pitaplaces are found all
over and are very popular here. They are ussualy opened till the
morning. Eventhough tips are included in the service, the more
upperclass restaurants expect an extra tip. (about 10% of the bill)
Typical Belgian dishes you might want to try are "biefstuk met
friet" (steak and chips) "friet met stoofvlees" (stoofvlees is a
meatdish made with a sort of beersauce), "appelmoes met bloedpens"
(applesauce and bloodsaucage), paling in t'groen (eal in
parsley sauce, eaten cold) and then ofcourse our famous Belgian
wafels. There's the Brussel waffles with whipped cream and the
Luikse waffles, which are alot sweeter, both are to be eaten while
hot. The best places to get chocolates are the Leonidas shops,
they have the biggest choice in flavours. As for desserts,
cheesecake and chocolate mousse are the favourites.
We have over 400 different sorts of beer! It is our national favourite drink. They are categarized as Blonde Beers, Dark Beers, Trappist Beers, White Beers, Fruit Beers and Region Beers. The extremely popular beers are Palm, Duvel, Kriek, Hoegaerden and Kasteelbier. |
