Most of us at one time have wondered where we came from , who are ancestors are, were they rich or poor, researhing our family trees is one of the most popular leisure activities today. Here are some hints and things i have done to research my family,i`am now searching my family in England, and i have gone back to the1700s 1)Ask older family members what they know of their great grandfathers and family, you will find a wealth of information there. 2)Look at old pictures, letters, births, baptisms, obituaries, see if one of the family has a keepsake drawer. 3)War records.(lots on the internet) 4)Make sure to copy every thing down, you will need it all later, try to get copys of the old photos and documents.. I started by marking down family i knew ,and i was starting to gather a lot of information ,on my family going back 100 years, but found i did not know my great grandfathers name.So i started looking in different places, this is were asking family came in very handy my cousin knew her great grandfather and his brothers and their familys names, that is where i found my grandfathers name and his fathers name.So now i had Charles Broads name, next i started looking in the local library,i wrote to alot of family members, joined a few message boards and ancestry.com link, this is where i found James Broads name. con`d |
