Nadia R. DeBono  -  Violinist
Nadia   was born  in 1978 and resides in Malta .  She commenced her music studies at 5 years of age, choosing the Violin for musical instrument.

Nadia was the only Maltese Violinist for two (2) consecutive years      (
1995  & 1996) to be selected by the Orchestre Des Jeunes de la Mediterranee to participate in a workshop of six (6) weeks duration each. She formed part of a 120 strong international orchestra on a tour of European and Mediterranean countries.

 
In 1997 she performed her first solo violin concerto at the Awla Magna in Valletta, Malta.

 
In 1999 she was a guest violinist with The Michail Jora Philharmonic Orchestra of Bacau, Romania, during their tour performance in Malta.

 
In August that same year, forming part of the Issa Ensemble, Nadia participated in The Aberdeen International Youth Festival, Scotland, when the ensemble was honoured by being classified finalist at the festival.

 
In November 1999 formed part of a pre-selected professional String Quartet representing Malta in Genoa, Italy during the IX Incontro Internazzionale dei Conservatori di Musica del Mediterraneo.

 
In the year 2000, Nadia founded Versatil Musik, a group of versatile and professional musicians to excel in their profession by presenting concerts in quartets, trios and duos. They perform various classical compositions of chamber music. They can execute repertoires of multi classical compositions by baroque, contemporary and modern composers.

 
In July 2001, Nadia organized and led a string chamber orchestra (23 musicians) to accompany world renowned Bass Player Charlie Hayden and Pianist / Director Alan Broadbent and the Quartet West, during their participation at the Malta Jazz Festival






In January 2002, she presented Versatil Musik in a recital of Beethonven String Trio in C Minor during the celebration of the Ambassadors Day at the Manoel Theatre, the main opera theatre in Malta.




 
In July 2002,   Nadia performed as first violinist with the National Youth Orchestra of Ireland at Limeick University Concert Hall, in a concert by Maxim Vengerov, under the direction of Mro. Alexander Anissimov. This performance was a precedent to the debut of Maxim Vengerov at the opening of The BBC Proms 2002 at the Royal Albert Hall in London UK.






In July - August 2002, she performed as guest first violinist with the orchestra in the Wagner Ring Festival 2002 on the invitation of the National Youth Orchestra of Ireland. The concert version of the Wagner Ring ( four operas ) were performed at the Limerick University Concert Hall in Ireland and at the Birmingham Symphony Hall in UK, from the 5th to the 18th of August 2002, under the direction of Mro.Alexander Anissimov.





Whilst she continues with her music studies, Nadia also performs recitals all over Malta as well as abroad.  She is currently engaged as Sub-Principal First Violinist with the National Orchestra of Malta following termination of her assignment with the Manoel Theatre Orchestra.
