NU shows form without Mendoza; finally wins one

National University finally won its first game in 10 outings as they demolished the hard-lucked University of Santo Tomas Growling Tigers, 82-63, Saturday at the Cuneta Astrodome.

Even without starting slotman Rey Mendoza, the Bulldogs showed toughness from end-to-end as Dave Catamora, Caesar Estolano and Alex Miclat combined for 36 points in routing the Tigers.

Catamora had 14 points and four rebounds and was haled as the top performer of the match. Miclat added 11 while Estolano gathered 11 and 10.

The Bulldogs, which had a 54-45 lead after three periods, aberrantly battered the Tigers even harder, outscoring UST, 28-18, in the final quarter.

UST, which now has a 4-6 record, was led by Jemal Viscarra and Danny Pribdhas, who had 19 and 13 markers respectively.
