After searching the web for info on the XJR, I found clubs and sites
where guys were modifying their bikes.
After a lot of reading, out I
went to find some bits. The local wrecker was wrecking a FJ1200, so
I grabbed
the inlet rubbers, the results are as follows:
Red 110.3 bhp
Yamaha FJ inlet rubbers
FJ1100 cams
K&N air filter
Iridium spark plugs
110 main jets.
Blue 114 bhp
Airbox mods
Ignition advanced
Ally mufflers
Green 115.9 bhp
108 mainjets
Carbs balanced
Purple 116.8 bhp
105 mainjets
Needles lifted by .33
Well it looks like I'm going the right way, its getting better each run. But the bike
was running too rich, the guys at the dyno centre said if I put a jetkit in I could fine
tune the bike, and get more out of it. So after the last run, I fitted a
Stage 1 Dynojet kit.
The set up now
96 Dynojet mains
Dynojet needles on 4th clip position
Carb slide holes drilled out
Mixtures screws 2 1/2 turns out
Carbs all computer tuned.
I'll get to the dyno as soon as I can, and update the site.
