Okay, the glass needs a good clean but this pic was taken through the end panel just as "long arms" jumped on a crab. Long Arms has a body length of about 4cm but when exploring the arms can reach a span of up to 30cm 12" or more! Long Arms is tame and will accept food from my fingers. Isnt fussy about food either. |

Yeah, another messy shot but this is typical watching pose. I have Mark Normans book called "Cephalopods A world Guide". The closest pics to Long Arms are page 291 delfilippi, page301 sp.18, plus it looks a bit like the pics on pages 238-239 horridus complex??????? I was told it came from Bali, but who knows? |
This was my first ever octopus. It was called "Long-Arms". It wasn't clear what species it was, but it did have exceptionally long arms! hence the imaginative name. I got Long-Arms from TMC and apparantly it came from Bali. This octopus died in February 2002. I am 100% sure it was an adult when I got it. Octopuses normally only live for 12 - 18 months depending on species. Long-Arms was reasonably friendly but not very active or trusting. |
