Sirius  Released 1988
Rock

In some ways, Sirius is a departure in Clannads Style. The music of Sirius is more modern, deriving influences from popular music. Clannad did this most likely to gain a foothold in the U.S. market. It worked as Clannad's popularity increased dramaticaly in the late eighties in America.
In Sirius all the songs are originals, surprisingly there are no gaelic songs on this album although several of the songs have some gaelic choruses between the english verses. We do however see Clannad's tendency to sing about Irish  legend. We also start to see some political overtures in songs like " White Fool" and " Sirius".  In the minds of some fans, Sirius was too much of a departure. I like to beleive that Clannad has proven their ability to perform on many levels, spanning traditional Irish, to Pop, and to New Age.
Sirius is just another facet of thier vast talent.
