GORRUM EMPIRE SOCIETY

Warhammer: The Gorrum Empire
Contact The Old Sage

The races of the Gorrum Empire - Gorrum Chi, Gorrum, Gorrul, Gorrba, and Grollac - have been united under the iron hand of the Emperor for over twenty centuries. Azhar Bloodhand rules over the lands of the Empire, aided by his Grand Vizier Bullgar who commands the armies of the Empire and the provincial Satraps - Harbac, Mektar, Azhir, Mazam, and Kurgul- who administrate and control the provinces of the Gorrum Empire. Gorrum Society is fiercely independent but also extremely sophisticated with its own etiquette and protocols, with the Imperial Court at its center. Gorrum Chi live long lives well in excess of 100 years and are extremely hardy and powerful. In stature they stand well above their smaller brethren, however there are fewer of them. Gorrum form the main bulk of society. It is not unusual for a Gorrum to live to 80 years. They are powerful and muscular and have an intelligence that is cruel and calculating. There is a small Gorrum elite that holds a number of key positions in the Empire but the majority fulfill most of the lowlier, more mundane functions in society. There is, however, the order of the Celestial Brotherhood which is well versed in the arts of alchemy, medicine, and astronomy. From these come most of the Magi and Alchemists of the Empire. The Gorrul and Gorrba are much smaller than the Gorrum and Gorrum Chi and live a mere 40 years. Their wiry stature belies their strength. They are the most prolific races of the Gorrum Empire, but are considered inferior by their rulers and in some instances the Gorrba are treated no better than slaves. As a result, they have formed up into smaller independent colonies on the fringes of the Empire in the high mountain passes and in the northeastern marshes and forests. The Grollac are the strangest of all the races of the Empire. They live alone or in small tribal groups deep in the mountains subsisting from hunting and foraging. They are huge four-armed beings who tower over the Gorrum Chi, and it is lucky for the ruling classes that they are so few and that they are generally peaceful until the bloodlust takes them in battle. With the scent of battle and the bloodlust in their hearts, they become raging terrors and machines of death and destruction.
