Conuil Mac
Athla
King of Inisfail
Conuil was raised to be King and spent his
boyhood amongst the Fianns and Draoi of Tara. As a youth, he excelled at hurlheid
("hurley"). He mastered the short sword and spear, but he soon came to favour a
short handled, heavy headed axe as his personal weapon. He hunted with the hounds, and
chased the great bucks through the forestand fought the great boars with only a t-headed
boar spear. When in only young manhood, he came upon one of the great bears and fought it
single-handed and slew it. When asked by his father why he fought the bear, his only
answer was, "It challenged me." He fought in the wars against the renegade
Ulster King, and he carried war and retribution into Leinsteir. He became King upon the
death of his father at the Battle of the Red Tree, and he has ruled and united the Kings
of Inisfail. He has met rebellion with swift justice, and he has rewarded loyalty.

Conuil can be taken as a Lord choice, but he will use up one of your Hero
choices as well. Taking Conuil counts as taking both a Lord and a Hero. He
must be fielded exactly as presented here and no extra equipment or magic items can be
bought for him.
Points: 320
Weapons: Lahm-dearg.
Armour: Gealleine.
Mount: Conuil may ride in a Chariot which has been
included in the army as a Special Unit choice at the points cost shown there, displacing
one of the Chariot's normal crew.
Special Rules:
Ferocious Charge.
Inspirational Leader. Conuil is a very inspirational
leader, leading his men into the thick of battle and keeping them going with his very
precense. Any unit within 12" of Conuil may use his Leadership value to make
any tests they are called upon to make.

MAGIC ITEMS
Lahm-dearg
Lamh-dearg was a
gift from one of the Sidhe to Conuil as a reward for saving his life. It is a
short-handled, heavy-headed axe made of strange red metal.
Hits caused by Lamh-dearg wound on a die roll of 2+.
No armour saves are allowed. All minions of Chaos take D3 wounds from a strike by
Lamh-dearg.
Gealleine
This ringed shirt
has passed down through Conuil's family since before the time of memory. It is made of
brilliant silver metal that never rusts and never needs polishing.
The armour includes a shield, and gives a 4+ save. If
Conuil fails his save, he may immediately reroll it. |
