West Bloomfield will have a new clerk - a Democrat - after Tuesday's primary election. Republican Sharon Law held the seat for 16 years, but decided not to seek re-election. The clerk's race will be decided in the primary, because all three candidates - Sheryl Mitchell, Cathy Shaughnessy and Heddie O'Connor - are Democrats. Residents will also be voting in the supervisor and treasurer races. However, those seats won't be determined until the general election in November. CLERK All three clerk candidates have said recruiting young voters and improving fresh face beauty products customer service are a few of the things they would like to implement if elected. Mitchell would also like to address the increasing amount of home foreclosures in West Bloomfield - which has the fifth highest in the county.
