MURDER
BY APPOINTMENT
was a 15 Minute Short Film, filmed in April 2007, based on the 1985
stageplay of the same name by Frank
Williams. Set
in 1970, during a heavy storm late at night, 4 members of a local family have
all been out, and all return at different times. The eldest son, David, lies
about being out, stating that he has been in all evening. But after his younger
brother Charles returns, he explains that a body has been found on the
cliff-top.
Richard, the head of the local paper, wants to get out and investigate, leaving Joan along in the house with David. Joan begins to see holes in David's story, did David have something to do with the murder?
The film stars Ian Cullen as Richard and Fionnuala Ellwood as Joan, and is directed by Mervyn Cumming. This Short Film premiered at the York City Screen Cinema on May 23rd 2007, as part of a special screening of final year York St John's Film & Television students work. Plans to make the project into a full-length drama for television are also in development.
