The KENWOOD TS-830 Survival Guide

This page is dedicated to all TS-830 users out there...
Ham radio equipment with solid state technology is "state of the art", but many of the older rigs are still in use today. These ancient machines can be purchased on the used market for low prices and some are known to be very reliable, among them the TS-830. This rig produced by Trio/Kenwood in the 1980's is a hybrid transceiver containing semiconductors and integrated circuitry as well as vacuum tubes in the final stage. Although a lot of material about the TS-830 is available on the web, there's no comprehensive collection available (as far as I know). So I'll present here the stuff I collected while searching for problem fixes for my TS-830.

The basic idea was to produce a printable manual-like guide, ready for making additions and modifications. So the file format had to be a common used one, with good compression of the included images and with hypertext capabilities. I chose the Microsoft Word 2000 format because it fulfils these requirements more or less and is supposed to become some kind of standard (at least for the next few years). In contrast, PDF seems to be not a good choice for the sake of further processing of the text. Nevertheless a PDF-version is also available...
