Along with the rest of the citizens of the Earth, he felt constant imprisonment, and constant pain and loneliness, as all the members of the Z Senshi, with the exception of Gohan, were killed in the initial encounter with the Andorids. Later, when Trunks became a teenager, Gohan, now an adult, trained him and became his best friend, being as a big brother to him. Gohan's hope was for Trunks to achieve the Super Saiyan level, and have greater strength with which to fight in their war against the Androids. Gohan's greater hope, however, was that Trunks and the rest of the Earth would be able to live happily and peacefully, without having a constant fear gnawing at them. However, before Gohan could see either of these achieved, he died in battle against the Androids, leaving Trunks as the Earth's sole protector. His hope for Trunks to achieve the Super Saiyan status was achieved by Gohan's death, however, as Trunks discovered his body and felt the anger and the need to see all the murders of the Androids avanged, and he became the tool for this end to be accomplished. In effect, Gohan's death was the trigger for Trunks to became the man that one day would defeat the Androids of his era and free his world, though he would have a long hard journey to arrive at this stage, including spending years training in the past, participating in the battle against the time- traveling Android Cell, and even dying at Cell's hands and being revived by Shinron. |
