Tormented (1960)
Rating: 4 Severed Heads
Synopsis:
Tom Stewart, a jazz pianist who lives in a small island town off the coast of New Hampshire, is about to get married to his fiancee' Meg when his old girlfriend Vi shows up. The two confront one another on top of the town's spooky old lighthouse where Vi trys to get Tom to marry her. Vi leans on a railing apparently made of pipe cleaners and falls from the edge. Tom has a chance to save her, but doesn't. After which Tom goes mad as the wedding grows closer and Vi's ghost wants to keep Tom and Meg apart....forever. Not to mention the blackmailer (played by Joe Turkel of The Shining and Blade Runner!) who threatens to expose Tom while speaking in some of the worst beatnik hipster talk that has ever been uttered.
This low-budget thriller is actually very psychological and chilling at moments, despite having the worst disembodied floating head we've ever seen.
