RUBY CEMETERY

Although referred to as the "Kifer" cemetery in the Allegany County Rural Cemteries  book, the RUBY Cemetery has never been called that. It has always been the RUBY cemetery.  It rests on land that was my 2nd Great Grandfather's , Thomas Ruby.   Located on Ruby Rd. in Oldtown,  one would have to travel  about 1/2 mile back into the woods atop a small ridge. There in the middle of the wilderness, is a small cemetery with  19 stones. How many others that are buried there is still a mystery. Somewhere on the property would be the graves of Thomas' slaves, but here rests Thomas, his wife, and the Kifer's  who's lives were intertwined with his in more than one way. But that is for the family to know........
