| Owen Ashford Slider, born 1873, was a handsome man in 1900, His Grandfather, Joseph Slider, was one of the first white men in Allegany County, settling on top of Green Ridge. Owen lived alone in his Grandfather's log house atop the Ridge until he was no longer able to care for himself. He died in 1955 in the Allegany Infirmery.
