Roots/Prog-Rock crossover US {yes, named after THAT LP!} were formed by Ophiuchus' saxophonist Pat D'Arcy, and Red Jasper's guitarist Robin Harrison in 1993, as an outlet for musical ventures outside of their main bands.
The idea for the band was developed whilst Pat worked with Red Jasper between 1988 and 1990.
Though US rarely gig they sometimes perform incognito under such wonderful monickers as "Whatever You Want", "Pat The Sax", and "An Extremely Well Known Band"!!
Music by US can be found on two compilation albums:
Pat's powerful "The Alcoholic Preacher" appears on the Hawkwind related compilation "This Ain't Disneyland".
The gentle ballad "Little One", written by bassist Spence, was selected for the BBC Children In Need compilation: "Super Songs For Pudsey".
