This is Operation Ivy's first "official" release.  This is Maximum Rocknroll magazine's "Turn It Around!" compilation from 1987.  On it are two Operation Ivy songs:  "Officer", about police brutality, and "I Got No", about pot addiction.  This was released before the band was on Lookout! Records.
"Hectic" was Operation Ivy's first attempt at putting some songs on wax.  It was recorded in November of 1987 at Dangerous Rhythm in Oakland, California and released in December of that year.  Tracks are "Junkies Runnin Dry", about non-conformity, "Here We Go Again", about the male psyche, "Hoboken", not about Hoboken, New Jersey (although the line "Hoboken, New Jersey" is heard in the song), "Yellin' In My Ear", about obnoxious people, "Sleep Long", about the homeless of the Bay Area, and "Healthy Body", about the obsession of making money.  First pressing was numbered of 1000.
"The Thing That Ate Floyd" was a 2-LP compilation which was the Lookout! Records sound of 1988.  Bands included Crimpshrine, Isocracy, Corrupted Morals, Operation Ivy and many more.  There is one Operation Ivy track on this release, "Hangin' Out".  A repress with a maroon or pinkish cover exists.  The original's cover was blue, I believe.  This is out of print.
There are three formats that the "Energy" album came out on:  LP, cassette and CD.  The LP contains 19 songs:  "Knowledge", "Sound System", "Jaded", "Take Warning", "The Crowd", "Bombshell", "Unity", "Vulnerability", "Bankshot", "One Of Those Days", "Gonna Find You", "Bad Town" (written by Lint), "Smiling", "Caution", "Freeze Up", "Artificial Life", "Room Without A Window", "Big City", and "Missionary".  The cassette and CD versions include the tracks from the "Hectic" EP and the tracks "Officer" and "I Got No" from the "Turn It Around!" compilation.  Released in 1989.
This double EP was released sometime between 1992 and 1993.  Among the bands recorded were Green Day, Rancid, Crimpshrine, Neurosis, Isocracy, Operation Ivy, and many more.  This contains Operation Ivy's live rendition of "Officer" sometime between 1987 and 1989 at the Gilman Street Project.  Very difficult to find.
This is the first Operation Ivy "bootleg".  It is the only "official" one. It was released in 1992 by three friends of Operation Ivy.  This EP contains four tracks, all from the "Hectic" sessions:  "Uncertain", "Troublebound", "Sarcastic", and "Plea For Peace".  The original version is limited to 1000 on white blur vinyl, which comes with a ten-page booklet.  At least three unauthorized reissues exist.  Jesse Michaels (lead vocalist) provided the cover art for this EP and also the "Hectic" EP cover and booklet, and the "Energy" cover and booklet.  Very rare to find in its original form.
This EP was released in 1993.  There were two pressings:  one numbered (of 2000) and the second pressing was of 2000, unnumbered.  The first pressing had 1890 on black vinyl and 110 on white blur vinyl, all hand-numbered with a corrugated cardboard sleeve.  Three tracks:  "My Life" live at 924 Gilman Street, "Healthy Body" (unreleased version), and "Steppin' Out" from Operation Ivy's 1987 demo.  Many unauthorized reissues exist, with blank labels.  The original has Foghorn Leghorn on one label, and the other label is totally black.  Squamosal Records.
This EP was released by Very Small Records and David Hayes, formerly of Lookout! Records.  This had a very limited run and was available for a very short time in the San Francisco Bay Area in California.  It contains two tracks, "Hedgecore" and "Left Behind", both from Operation Ivy's 1987 demo, recorded by Brian Edge at the Gilman Street Project in 1987.
