Frankfurt and the Black Forest

Oesterferien... Greeted by a sunny day in Giessen near Frankfurt! A true treat... Breakfast with Rosie and Andreas in the backyard of Ulli and Karin. We had all met hiking the alps near Obertsdorf the summer of 2000. The tradition for Easter is that the kids (Lucas & Lena) go off into the woods to collect moss, build a nest for the easter bunny to deposit goodies and then wake Mama and Papa at the crack of dawn for the easter egg hunt...

...Of course, while hiking through the woods, there was a beer garden to stop at - Kloster Schiffenberg. The pilsner was good, although the apfelwein was supposedly the highlight, but didn't taste like it. Schwaebia..The 2nd photo is a view in Tuebingen looking over the Neckar River. Here I visited Anne and Meike who I had traveled with in Africa. Anne & I hiked up to a castle "Burg Hohenzollern" on the way to Meike's for dinner.

Schwartzwald... Anne and I headed to the Black Forest for a few days - 1st hike, the Wutachschlucht - quite the mouthful and eyeful! Beautiful rock walls, views and thriving moss-covered trees.

2nd hike was to the Feldsee- the most beaultiful lake in the Black forest - still half-covered in snow! Then it was onto France for a day... View over the rooftops of Strasbourg after climbing the 320 steps up to Notre Dame Kathedral.
