We took a day trip in April 2004 to visit the zoo in Springfield, MO.  It's quite a bit smaller than the other zoo we normally go to, but the kids had a great time.

There were these little orange boxes throughout the zoo that you can slip a magic key into and hear about the animal in a cute little song.  Sydnee kept that magic key the whole time and loved hearing all the cute little songs.
"Don't just stand there!  Come on and help me, Sydnee!"

"Ok, sis, like this?"
The petting zoo provided an interesting opportunity to find out about the diets of sheep...

it ate an iris that Krista has picked up along the way.  She was pretty upset at first, but soon went back to petting the animals.  Sydnee discovered that sheep will even eat dirt if you talk to them just right while you're feeding them!  (c:
"Have you ever seen a turtle that big, Sydnee?"

"No, where, I want to see!"
Our collection of interesting animals that we saw...

Maras, a wild relative of the guinea pig that look more like jack rabbits that have lost their ears.
A duck that who has dreams of one day becoming a flamigo...he can even stand on one leg!
The black swan, a native Aussie.  I thought this picture came out so pretty with the tree branch peaking out.
