Cub Scout Pack 1680 - pinewood derby

The Pinewood Derby is an annual event held in January. The Derby kits are handed out at the December Pack meeting. There are two Help Days or Car Clinics held prior to the Pinewood Derby event where cub scouts can use power tools to build their cars and receive help from other event organizers

Scouting Rules for Racing:
Be a courteous Driver.
Be Positive and Cheer all of the participants on to Victory.
Remember that once your car is checked-in your car will be impounded and only the “Race Officials” can handle the cars.
Make sure your car is checked in during the allotted time.
The top three finishers from each rank will race in the Finals.

Need Help??? 
We will be holding two “Car Clinics” to help with car building tips.  Both will be held at Faith at the Scout building on Saturday, Jan 17 & Sunday, Jan 18 from 2:00 - 5:00 PM.

Official Race Check-In: 
You must check in your car on Friday, January 23 from 6:30 to 9:00 P.M. at the Scout Hut building at Faith.  The Check-in times will be staggered according to your den as indicated above. If you cannot make either the check-in or the race then you may send the car with a friend and we will enter and race your entry.

Race Day
The judges will be looking for original designs so use you imagination when it comes to the look, feel and colors of your car.  The Pack will be giving awards for categories such as Best Color, Most Interesting etc….
Remember that the “Derby Diner” will be selling good things to eat during the racing event so invite all of your family to Support the Pack while they cheer you on to Victory!!!!
