1/48 Trumpeter F-6

by Haroon Hamid
Here is Trumpeter's offering of the Mig-19 Farmer "C" which comes with options of doing a Chinese F-6. Overall the kit is reasonably good, the detailing similar to those Korean kits. This kit is however a major let down when it comes to quality of its plastic, its just too soft.  Even when the model is placed on the table, the entire fuselage wobbles. It could really use a white metal landing gear. Other minor inaccuracies are the weird shape of the forward fuselage, parabrake housing and the totally non-existant auxilary intakes. But these can be overcomed  or overlooked quite easily. :)

PAF's white F-6s as I was told were employed as base guards with the sole purpose of scrambling to intercept Indian fighter-bombers. They had two missile pylons on each wing and the characteristic underbelly gandola tank. As a 10yr old on my first trip to Peshawar, I do recall seeing two of these white F-6s fllying pretty low near the outskirts of the city. So it seems only right, that my first F-6 would be one in white.

Since this is the only F-6 offering 48th scale, you're not exactly spoilt for choice. Unless if you can get your hands on those limited run HiPM F-6s. Overall its a good kit which would require a fair bit of work.

PS: Incase you're wondering the sentry was given to me by a friend, taken from his Iraqi Scud Missile kit. Thanks Ahson!
