1/72 L382B Hercules

When I saw this one at the Royal International Air Tattoo back in July, it just had to be made! So I embarked on my most ambitious home-made decal project to date and 3 months later, if I dare be so bold, I am rather pleased with the result.

The decal masters were made in Photoshop from photos that I took at the event. These were then sized and arranged in Word and then printed onto Experts Choice white inkjet decal sheet. The black lettering/numbers were printed onto clear decal sheet. The decals were sealed with several coats of Microscale liquid decal film, and then used just like any standard decal.

The kit is the old
ESCI C-130H kit built from the box apart from the crew door strut, tail-top red light and the blade aerials. It went together reasonably well; putty was needed in the obvious joins but this was easy enough with the generous shape of the aircraft. There are probably all sorts of inaccuracies in the kit, the decals and the paint scheme, but as I said I am happy with the result.

Steve.
