Researcher Requests:

From: [email protected] I am researching (Capt. ) George W. Cook , born in TN in 1812-13. He lived in Wayne Co. TN 1830?-1850?- died in AR in 1888. According to census records his father was also born in TN and his mother in NC. I don't know his wife's name,it was possibly Virginia or Louise. I believe she died pre-1850. They had sons Dempsey, and George W. and a daughter Mary L. Cook. Dempsey Cook had children James Christopher, Charles Edgar, George Isaac, Dempsey Hill, Peter, and daughters Lucretia Abigail, Minnie Louise, Annie, and Cadda. I haven't found anything on his parents or siblings. Bob Ewing

Martin Cook was born in 1828, and married Clarenda Autery in Tishomingo County, MS in 1853. They had the following children: Mahala Cook, Mary Harriete Cook, Armentie Atra Cook, Absolum Martin Cook, James Alexander Cook, Selena Carolina Cook

I am from James Alexander Cook who was born in 1868 in Tishomingo County, MS, this is about all that I have....

The Cook family is said to be German by tradition and by an early article in a newspaper that said that John Cook Sr. was a German and hatter by trade. I don't know if that means that John or his father was born in Germany. There was also a cousin that thought an older relative told them that our Cooks were related to James Cook the explorer. This seems unlikely to me, but anything is possible (except with me). I do think that the family is German, but I think we have been in the USA longer than we can prove...in other words I don't think that John Sr. was born in Germany!!
