Mr Martin was a well known East St. Louis baker, and at one time held every office in the Baker's Union Local No. 5. He operated a number of East St. Louis bakeries during the 58 years he lived in the city and before his retirement in 1955. He was also a active member of the Western Catholic Union.
He was born in Macon, Georgia on April 14, 1883 and was the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Martin.
