This census was taken after W.C.'s first wife Adaline had died and 10 years after he had married Hester Ann Selser Richards. Their combined household included the following:

(Patricia M. Currie's note: Lorruhamah A. Currie, "Baby Loruh", (5/2/1856 - 8/2/57), would have died 3 years before this census was taken. She is buried in the Confederate Cemetery at Vicksburg, Ms to the left of her brother, Howard Cromartie Currie.

Annie E. Currie was born, 12/2/1860, just after this census was taken.

Abram ("Abe")Whitaker Currie is not mentioned in this census report, probably because in this year he married Hester's younger sister, Delia Selser. They must have been living elsewhere.

At this time the family was at its most prosperous. All was taken from them during "the war" as they struggled for their lives. Miraculously, they all survived.)
