{rollThe M-60 was the natural next step in the US armour development, being the natural replacement of the M48, with more punch from its 105 mm rifled tank gun and a diesel engine, following the Dieselisation of the entire US armour corps.

First units in production were delivered to the US army in 1960. The serie continued improving, two years later appeared the next version, the M-60A1, with a new turret heavily protected. The M-60 A3 fits a new and more reliable powerpack, stabilisation system for the main armament, and smoke granades dischargers. Last version M60A3 TTS fits a new fire control system with laser range-finder.

The M60 was exported to many countries as they were phased out with the US army. The M 60 was the main tank in the Israel IDF during the sixties. Israel modified these tanks improving its battlefield survivality adding new armour packages. }
