Abyssinian
Cat
Weight:
8-10 lbs. Coloring
- All coat colors come in an agouti pattern, which means distinct and even
ticking, with dark colored bands contrasting with lighter colored bands on the
hair shafts. The Abyssinian comes in four colors - ruddy, red, blue and fawn.
Eyes - Gold
or green. Overall Appearance
- Abyssinians, often called Abys for short, still retain the jungle look of
felis lybica, the African wildcat ancestor of all domestic cats. Their slim legs
are quite powerful and they can jump great distances with ease. Personality
- Abyssinians are highly energetic, activee and sometimes fearless in their pursuits.
Although Abys are affectionate, they would rather play with you than sit on your
lap. Breed Fact -
Although the Abyssinian is one of the oldest known breeds, there continues to
be speculation and controversy concerning its history. Recent studies by geneticists
show that the most convincing origin of the Abyssinian breed is the coast of the
Indian Ocean and parts of Southeast Asia. CFA
