The original version of the pokedex

 The pokédex is a high-tech encyclopedia that registers information on all the pokémon captured.

Originally, it only stored information on the area where to find, a pokédex definition, and the cry of the original first 150 pokémon known by then, but new versions have been made since.
Later, a new version was made including all the pokémon from Johto, a search function, and an options menu to reorganize the list of pokémon however desired.

The third version of the pokedex

With different pokémon being available in Hoenn, a new version had to be created. This new version built on the search function, had a menu, and also compared the pokémon's size to a trainer.
The new and improved pokédex will be greatly powered up. Not only will it order the pokémon by their habitat, but it will also tell if that pokémon's evolved or preevolved form can also be captured in the same place.
