Our Proctor Family

From the plantations in Virginia to the wilds of Nova Scotia...quite a trek for our ancestors Proctor. The beginning of our lineage to John Proctor, who arrived in 1607 is yet to be proven,but, we still have other mysteries on this side of the ocean as well. With tales of plantations, slaves and sea captain's daughters , it gives one the incentive to keep on with search. Meanwhile , we can look back to the late 1790's and imagine what life must have dealt to those who came before us. Uncleared forest land, rough hewn cabins and living by your wits to survive,yet able to marry and raise large families with amazing results. Sea captains,wives, farmers and woodsmen...such a diversified lot they are.

Benjamin Proctor b. circa 1730,in Virginia, Isle of Wight County
m. (unknown name) said to be the daughter of a Spanish Sea Captain who died young and left him to raise a family alone.
