|
History: |
Thunder Scout Group was established in 1996. Before that, we were known as Fuchun Scout Group. Fuchun, is actually the name of a school, the school in which we are based. We sunk to an all-time low, with only 7 scouts in the troop. But, that all changed in 1996. A few senior scouts decided that if anything productive was going to be done, we must change. So, was born the Thunder Scouts.Ever since the change, both in name and training programme, Thunder scouting has leapt to new bounds. Our membership has increased by 140% !! There was even a change in scout leaders. The former scout leader had to leave for Australia. Taking over his place is Mr. Christopeh Peh. I am glad to say that Mr. Peh certainly gave Thunder Scouts a real boost. Thunder Scouts is a group in the Yishun District, which is in the North Area. The District Commissioner, Mr. Silver Rajoo, also played a big part in the growth of Thunder Scouts. With only 3 scout groups in our district, we easily built up a good rapport with Mr. Rajoo. Thunder Scouts have since been called up to participate in district, area and even national events. |
