Paul's Guide to Puerto Iguazu Life and Love

Dec 22

Dorm/Private
Today I thought I might go out towards the little waterfals on the Mbocay river, (http://misionesnatural.com/salto-mbocay.html ) but when I talked to Nicolas, who told he someone tried to rob him when he went there, I decided to try to find the Casa de Botellas - House of Bottles... instead. Here are some notes and pics from my day....
My first stop along the way was the big casino near the border. I went in to see if anyone spoke English, if they were friendly and if someone would fill my water bottle.

The first person I talked to was a very friendly David. David spoke English very well. He learned it in Brazil, where he lived about 15 years.

The next person I talked to was Nicolas from Mendoza. He used to work at some hostels there and also spoke English well. He told me that the Hostel Inn here in PI is the largest in Argentina.

I saw this little train, pulled by a tractor.. I think it goes to the Guarani village. The sign on the back says something like "If you think you saw everything, you are wrong. With us you will get to know the secrets of the jungle and the Guarani culture.

Here are the prices

I also met Carlos who spoke basic English and has two rooms he rents out to tourists on Air BNB. He works at the YPF/Argentine Auto Cllub.
Next I found some mystery refrigerator containers...and some abandoned construction projects

Then I happened to find a place called Aripuca - These are some of the biggest trees I have seen anywhere in the world...

Then I stopped by a camping place where the lady was not very friendly and chared 100 pesos per person for camping. That seemed very high considering you can get a hostel dorm for 90!
Next I found the Casa de Botellas.... and spent a long time talking to the founder, Alfredo

He is a very interesting guy, not surprisingly.
