My Tribute to Tesla, California
Tesla Plantlife Photos 2 One thing I love about the Tesla area is the wonderful diversity of plant life. This page is primarily Trees and Shrubs. The pictures here are reduced and may be clicked on to see their full size. You will need to hit your browser's "back" button however to return to the photo pages. They may take a while to load so please be patient. Also, Botany is sort of my weak point, so if anyone viewing these pages can provide me with better details of any of the photos, please e-mail the info to me at [email protected]
I call this old Oak tree in the creekbed at the tip of Hogback Hill the Sentinel as it seems to stand watch to the valley beyond.
Not a very good shot, but I love the different varieties of Manzanita. This is a bush variety. I like the small tree variety I have seen at Henry Coe State Park the best.
Another Manzanita. This one is a shrub/tree variety located behind the main tunnel site on the hillside.
This Manzanita Is on Hogback hill and looks as though it had been freshly scraped by a rutting buck or wild hog.
Another Tree by Hogback Hill. I call this one Grisella since it sort of looks like an old hag looking to the right.
I really can't remember if these two trees were Sumacs or trees of heaven. I will have to check their seed pods on my next visit.
I found this shrub most interesting. It looks like a huge (25-30' across) bush outside, but resembles a mini forest inside the canopy.
A larger variety of the trees above. This is one of the first pictures I took upon visiting the townsite.
Same as above. The wasp pictures on the next photo page shows the leaves and flowers of this shrub. There are several specimens of it at Tesla but I don't know what they are.
I'm fairly certain this is a variety of Wild Cucumber. I found it growing in the small grove of sumac or tree of heaven trees near the gate around the old Harrietville site of Tesla.
To sign my guestbook, please
I hope you are enjoying the album so far. Please remember to e-mail me if you have any information to better describe any of the pictures you see or if you find any errors on the pages. I would really appreciate it. I decided to keep each page to 12 photos max so the download time wouldn't be too long. So please click the button below to go on to the next page. :-)
