Suranga Tennakoon

The links below lead to photographs of a declaration made by Kosala and Suranga Tennakoon, and a further statement signed by 27 detainees at the Maribyrnong Detention Centre in the aftermath of the death of Viliami Tanginoa last December. As reported elsewhere, eight of the eyewitnesses have already been deported and others have been put under pressure to leave. Suranga Tennakoon, who held his friend Viliami in his arms during his last moments and played a key role in exposing the behaviour of ACM guards, is now in Port Phillip Prison, after being held first at the Melbourne Assessment Prison. Police have investigated the allegations against him and declined to lay charges.
