MTV USA finally played u.n.k.l.e.'s Rabbit in Your Headlights video on 120 Minutes last week, with Matt Pinfield giving a long lecture about exactly why it had been banned. It is possible that they may show it again this week - stay tuned.

November 30th

Radiohead will do an acoustic version of The Smashing Pumpkins 'Silverfuck' for a tribute album due out in the future. Other artists on the album will be Beck, Ben Folds Five, Man or Astroman?, Trent Reznor, Marilyn Manson, and Better Than Ezra.

November 24th

In a follow up to last week's story, Radiohead has released an announcement to make it clear that "they have no connection with a play called 'The Untitled Radiohead Project.' " The band is upset that Dean Testeman, who wrote and is directing the play, never tried to get in touch with the band to secure publishing rights to their lyrics. They will, however, allow the play to go on, with the understanding that all profits from the show will go to charity.

"The Untitled Radiohead Project," which is currently showing at L.A.'s Hollywood Court, is a play based entirely on lyrics and liner notes from all three Radiohead albums.

November 20th

As London's glitterati mull over what they will wear to the premiere of Radiohead's fly-on-the-wall documentary, Meeting People Is Easy, which debuts in that capitol city on Nov. 30, the Oxford, England-based band is making plans to enter a studio to record their fourth album.

According to the label source, the band may again hook up with Nigel Godrich, the knob-twisting guru best known as the force behind last year's critical and commercial smash, OK Computer. An industry insider notes that the proper Mr. G. is champing at the bit to get back in the studio with these civilized blokes. He spent a good chunk of last year in the wilds of California manning the boards for Mutations, Beck's recent release.

No word whether the band will be on hand for the Meeting People Is Easy premiere, but it's likely that Grant Gee (who directed their "No Surprises" video) will be there. After all, he did spend the better part of a year with Radiohead looking at life through the band's eyes during the tour for OK Computer, as well as filming performances in Barcelona, Paris, New York and Tokyo. Insiders claim that Gee even managed to capture the nascent stirrings of some of the songs that Thom Yorke and the guys have written for the new album.

Also, there is a play on in Los Angeles, USA at the moment entitled 'The Untitled Radiohead Project'. It is about someone wanting to be abducted by aliens, but the dialogue consists solely and continuously of lyrics from Radiohead songs and B-sides completely, and nothing else! It's at the Hollywood Court Theatre, near the church with the big AIDS ribbon on it at Franklin and Highland. The ticket reservation line is (213)368-8980.

The Radiohead documentary 'Meeting People is Easy' will be out in the UK on November 30th, and in the USA on January 26th. But it's definately worth the wait!

The Rabbit In Your Headlights video for the recently released EP (directed by Karma Police/Street Spirit/Massive's Karmacoma Jonathan Glazer) has been banned from MTV due to its 'violent content'. More news on the Amnesty International concert in Paris. The concert will honor people around the world who fight for human rights. The tickets will go on sale October 7th. Other bands that will be performing are Alanis Morisette, Tracy Chapman, and the Asian Dub Foundation.

The Radiohead documentary 'Meeting People is Easy' will be released in the UK on November 16th.

September 30th

The film 'Velvet Goldmine, with which a track by Radiohead will be featured on the soundtrack, will be out in mid-November for people in the United States, and earlier for people in the United Kingdom.

Lots of new Radiohead covers are being released or are soon to be released. Some of these include a jazz version of 'Exit Music For A Film', Sarah Slean's version of 'Climbing Up The Walls', which you can get here, Anthrax covering 'The Bends', and Marillion's cover of 'Fake Plastic Trees. The U.N.K.L.E/Thom Yorke single 'Rabbit in Your Headlights' will be released on October 12th on the Mo'Wax label. There will be several remixes of the track, including one by David Axelrod, and an instrumental version as well.

Radiohead will be headlining a festival supporting Amnesty International on December 10th in Paris, France.

September 6th

The first single off the U.N.K.L.E. Psyence Fiction LP will be Thom and DJ Shadow's 'Rabbit In Your Headlights', and it will include remixes by Massive Attack and David Axlerod. The song will also have a video directed by Jonathan Glazer, who also did the Karma Police, Street Spirit and Massive Attack's Karmacoma videos.

In the November issue of the 'Shambhala Sun', there's an interview with Thom that was done at the Tibetan Freedom Concert this summer.

September 4th

Those in North America who get MuchMusic will be able to see "Radiohead: Live from the Belfort Eurockenees" on September 26th at 9:00 pm - a broadcast from a festival last summer. It will probably air on MuchUSA soon.

It is possible that some kind of material will be released from Radiohead this year or early next year. The band is working on a B-sides album - possibly including a few new tracks that didn't make it onto previous albums or singles. Mixing and production starts in October when the band return to the studio.

Ed O'Brien has started to talk about the new album. Track decisions and recording are to start in October. Some tracks that will probably be included on the album are: 'I Promise', 'True Love Waits', and 'Motion Picture Soundtrack'

Indie-rock faves Drugstore recently wrapped up a stint on this summer's Lilith tour, and Brazilian born vocalist Isabel Monteiro and company have seen their moody melodies earn them previous gigs alongside such groups as the Smashing Pumpkins and Radiohead.

Drugstore was able to tap Radiohead vocalist Thom Yorke to sing on its new single, "El President" but after Yorke had finished up in the studio and returned home, Monteiro was put in the difficult spot of telling Yorke that his vocals hadn't turned out all that great.

"We originally wrote the song in a different key," Monteiro told MTV News, "a key that wasn't suitable for Thom. So, he turns up in the studio, he opens his mouth and he sounds bad -- I mean double bad. No one said anything, I mean, who has the guts to tell Thom, 'You sound like crap.'" "So we did [the song]," she continued, "and he goes back to Oxford thinking he has done a great job, but [we knew] it wasn't good, so I had to call him back and tell him, which was pretty difficult."

Drugstore's new album, "White Magic for Lovers" is in stores now.

The U.N.K.L.E. LP 'Psyence Fiction' featuring Thom Yorke doing the vocals on the song 'Rabbit in Your Headlights' is out in Europe August 24th and in the USA September 28th.

August 19th

National public radio station KCRW is readying its fourth compilation of on-air performances from its acclaimed "Morning Becomes Eclectic" program. "Rare On The Air 4" will include live versions of Radiohead's "Subterranean Homesick Alien," Sarah McLachlan's "Good Enough," Jeff Buckley's "So Real," among others. The cd will be released Oct. 6 in the U.S. and proceeds from its sales benefit the Santa Monica, California based station, which relies upon government funding and public donations to stay on air.

Some of the band members have begun to talk about the new album. Recording is supposed to start sometime around October or November. One of the songs that has a great possibility of getting on the album is 'Motion Picture Soundtrack'. (Woohoo!) =)

Radiohead has received 4 1998 MTV Video Music Awards Nominations for "Karma Police."

The nominations are for: Best Group Video, Best Alternative Music Video, Best Direction in a Video, and Best Cinematography in a Video

In other Radiohead related news, Andy Yorke's band Unbelievable Truth will be releasing their first LP, "Almost Here" in the United States on October 20th. The album is already out in the United Kingdom.

Radiohead is supposed to be shown playing High and Dry on ABC's 'In Concert' tv show tonight at midnight. (Or really early Saturday morning for the technical people) ;-) This live performance is from the Glastonbury Festival last year.

June 16th

R.E.M., Radiohead, David Crosby and several other musicians performed outside the U.S. Capitol yesterday to protest President Clinton's China policy. Clinton canceled a meeting scheduled for last night with several musicians who performed at the Tibetan Freedom Concert over the weekend. China has occupied Tibet since 1951.

June 15th

Radiohead also did end up playing the Tibetan Freedom Concert yesterday, after being rescheduled. The setlist is as follows:

Radiohead's set was inspired, however. They had the crowd singing " This is what you'll get" during "Karma Police"; Yorke bobbed his head back and forth incessantly; and Stipe's guest stint singing lead on "Lucky" added more excitement here than Yorke's turn did for R.E.M.'s set.

Stipe also praised Radiohead singer Thom Yorke. "He's a genius. Nobody can hit notes like that and hold them except for him. It's super- human." Stipe added that the Radiohead song "Lucky" was his first choice for him to sing. "Yes, but I was scared to hit the word 'glorious.'"

They closed with a surprise rendition of "Creep" -- which they hadn't performed in the U.S. on their most recent tour -- and Yorke's extended note on the final coda drew huge applause.

WASHINGTON (4:05 p.m.) -- At least six Tibetan Freedom Concert attendees were struck by lightning Saturday (June 13) and rushed out of the arena with injuries moments after a sky-rending crack of thunder ripped through the air over RFK Stadium.

Two of the victims were listed in guarded condition, and the others were in stable condition, according to emergency crews and city police.

A hard rainstorm hit the venue following the flash of lightning and the much-anticipated benefit concert was brought to an abrupt halt. "It was just this single, big bolt of lightning that came right down and hit this kid," said Jimmy Jellinek, 23, a fan who said he was 50 feet away from the point of impact. "They cleared out the area and started giving him CPR."

After their cancellation, the band announced a secret gig at Washington's 9:30 club. The first 800 ticket stubs from the Tibetan Freedom Festival were allowed in. The doors opened at 12:00. Support came from Pulp, and the band were in a really good mood - Thom was talking about Tibet, Colin was animated, but the highlight of the set was a performance of Lucky with Michael Stipe of REM singing, and Thom and Ed doing the backup vocals.
