Sturgis and the Blackhills of S.D.
Roger, Diane, Carl and Kelly left for Sturgis, SD, early in the morning on August 7th, arriving on the 9th. They spent a total of three days in Sturgis, touring the Blackhills National Forest and Custer State Park. After Sturgis, they went on to Yellowstone National Park.
Loaded up and ready to go to Sturgis.
We precariously unloaded Carl's Harley out of the bed of the Silverado.
Unloaded in Pierre, SD, and ready to ride the final leg of 200 miles to Sturgis.
Kelly fills up her Roadking at one of the frequent gas stops. We gassed up every 150 miles or so.
Bikers and Buffalo shared the road in the Custer State Park. Large herds of Buffalo and other animals roam free throughout the park.
A visit to the Blackhills would not be complete without a stop at Mt. Rushmore National Monument.
A small herd of cow Elk and their off spring liked hanging out in this river in the Blackhills.
Wild burrors were also plentiful in Custer State Park. This particular roadway is referred to as a wildlife loop.
