Meet Tweetie
A Brief Biography of Tweetie:

Tweetie is the only cat I have ever "inherited".  He was given to my cousin, Alex, on her fifth birthday.  She says it's because he's yellow, like a Tweetie bird.  At the time he came to live with her, Alex lived with her mother and father in a big house with a much older cat named Alley.  Tweetie was a very shy, but sweet, little kitten.

The only contact I had with Tweetie during the first three years of his life was those times that my uncle hired me to bathe the cats.  Many things happened during those first three years.  My uncle and ex-aunt got a divorce.  They moved from the big house.  My uncle bought a smaller (but very nice) house closer to my grandparents and the rest of my family. Tweetie and Alley and a third cat were consigned to the garage.

Shortly after this move, Alex's mother remarried and took Alex to live with her in another state.  This saddened and confused Tweetie.  Then, in the summer of 2001, my husband and I were married.  For a year, we rented my uncle's house and took care of Tweetie and Alley, along with our new little kitten, Bastet.

During the following year, we all grew very close to Tweetie.  (Sadly, we only had the pleasure of Alley's companionship for 2 1/2 months.  She passed on in the early morning hours of October 19, 2001 at the ripe old age of 16.)  We were worried about whether or not my uncle would allow us to keep Tweetie once we moved.  But there was never any reason to worry, for anyone could tell that Tweetie was very happy in his new family unit.

Tweetie's unstable past has more than likely shaped the cat he is today.  He is still very shy  around strangers.  He is very loving to other cats and is always the first one to welcome a new kitten with open paws.  He comes across as very dim-witted at times, but is actually very clever.  He can get into (or onto) anything, such as (most) hamster cages, a high shelf, sealed kitten food, etc.  He has been known to play "fetch" with fluffy little pom-pom cat toys.  He hates it when Matt and I fight, and at the slightest sign of discontent, he is in between us, purring, rubbing against us, and meowing.  (We think he remembers what happened when his former humans fought.)  Tweetie can also be very brave.  He once backed a rottweiler into a corner.  He is the most loyal cat I have ever known and will only leave the foot of my side of the bed when I am good and ready to get up.
