Group 2: The Caterpillar (Larva) Stage |

Your group is the Caterpillar. This is the second stage of the life cycle. You will need to research your stage and find out why you are so important. Go to the following website to find the definition of the caterpillar stage. Write it down on the butterfly paper for discussion with your group. |
At the link research your stage. Find out and describe what it looks like and tell what happens at this stage. Write it on the butterfly paper and draw a picture of it. When your group is finished researching the Caterpillar Life Cycle then you are able to make the "Making a Pupa" art project. |
Materials Needed: Green, blue, dark green, and brown construction paper, tracer templates from the teacher, markers, glue stick and scissors. |

1. To make the Pupa: Cut the pupa from the brown construction paper by tracing the templates and cut it out. Place glue along the outside of the smaller cut-out and place it on top of the larger cut-out. Draw lines onto the pupa with a black marker. Write the word "PUPA" at the bottom of the pupa. |
2. To make the Caterpillar: Trace the caterpillar onto green construction paper. Draw a face with markers. Write the word "CATERPILLAR" on the side of the caterpillar. Also, trace the leaf template onto the dark green construction paper. |
3. To make the butterfly: Trace the butterfly template onto the light blue construction paper. Place glue on the back side of the caterpillar and place in the center of the blue butterfly. Write the word "BUTTERFLY" on one of the wings with a marker. It is optional to draw details on the wings of the butterfly and remember to be symmetrical. |
