To some the 55, 56, and 57 Nomads were thought to be "wonder" wagons. The above picture was slightly enhanced to illustrate this point.
After seeing Bill's 57 Nomad when we attended Annandale High School, I found a Nomad of my own. So one
evening in 1968 I bought this 55 Nomad from someone who just moved into the Springfield, Virginia
area. The picture above was taken in the owners backyard just before I took possession. When I bought
it, it was all original - except for the paint.

The color had been changed to Mustang Ivy green. It
has the original untouched 265 ci Small block with a Powerguide. As you can see it had the original
hubcaps. Bill eventually repainted his 57 Nomad Mustang Ivy Green or a color very close to a Mustang
Ivy Green. | |
I evidentually swaped out the original rims and hubcaps for larger tires and Keystone Mags.
I also had to replace the sheet metal under the rear seat - something that almost all 55, 56, 57 Nomads and Pontiac Surfaris had to have done. Eventually I sold the car to someone and a year later Bob bought (rescued) the body and we installed a modified drive train. ~Andy |
