(Firebird, Camaro, Mustang) | |
Sarah is Bob and Janet's Daughter. She often takes after her Dad. She
has a strong love of cars, especially sport coupes like the Firebird,
Camaro, and Mustang. She often helps her dad work on his Corvettes. She
takes great pride in telling guys she is dating that she works with her
dad on resorting them. Her first car was an 86 Firebird that her Aunt
Brenda had. Aunt Brenda thought that it was a V6. However, when I changed
the plugs for the first time, I noticed that the V6 had a bunch of extra
motor in the back - with two extra plugs? The motor was not a V6 but a
305 V8. Basically, the 305 was a small block Chevy 283 with a 327 crank,
similar to a 307. In contrast, the earlier "hot" Camaro had the screaming
302, which was the 327 block with a 283 crank - the 302 wound up faster
than the 305 because of the crank's shorter throw.
I believe the trans was a R700 of some type. Sarah
used this car through high school and it did smoke a little when started
after sitting awhile. Probably needed valve seals, but it did have 180K
miles when we finally gave it to Salvation Army. Sarah's next car was a
car she bought during her sophomore year of college. She asked me to go
out and help her select a car. We went all over looking at different cars
for many days. She finally selected the "black" 94 Camaro pictured above.
Made her daddy proud; beside that, she was paying for it too! After she
bought it she turned to me and proudly said with a twinkle in her eye,
"Gee Daddie, now we have matching Father Daughter Chevies." Meaning that
her Camaro and the black 76 Vette "we" were working on matched. Her
Camaro lasted until she was out of college and working. Then one day
some bozo cut her off and caused her to swerve into a Jersey Wall, spin
around a couple of times, and finally hit a pickup truck. Sarah was
pretty banged up and the Camaro was totaled. As with Bill's 57 Nomad
accident, she survived but the Camaro did not (see Nomad section). Again,
she asked me to help select a car and again we went all over looking at
different cars for many days. Finally, she selected a 2002 Mustang with
little over 10K that she got for a really reasonable price and is what
she is driving today. | |

Sarah has since traded in the above 02 Mustang for a NEW 2005 Mustang GT.
