This is one of Senan O'Connor's Renault 4s. This particular van was kept in the corner of a yard with a bowl of water. He said:

There were many such Renault fours on the farm on which I grew up. Some were so rusty passengers had to put their feet on the dash. To this day my mother has a reflex action to cover her face when she drives through puddles. The hatch back was great, you could lift it off and place it on the roof. I once heard of someone whose party trick was to belt a friend into her Renault 4, drive out into a field and roll it over and back onto its wheels. It was amazing how the mechanicals outlasted the bodies. They just wouldn't die. The dash mounted gearchange was fantastic for any budding WRC drivers. If you stuck to first and second it was effectively sequential and clutch wasn't always necessary.
