Open the battery compartment by turning its cover to the left. Insert
two 1.3v M20 type mercury batteries according
to the diagram on the bottom of the compartment, and close the cover.
After the mercury batteries have been loaded,
turn the booster switch to C and check the voltage. If the meter
needle is completely within the blue index mark, it means the batteries
have sufficient voltage to operate the meter. If the meter needle is
pointing to the edge of the blue index mark, replace both of the
mercury batteries with new ones.
