A JAN MERLIN ALBUM
Jan was born April 3, 1925. Graduating from the Neighborhood Playhouse of the Theatre, he first appeared on Broadway in 1949. In addition to appearing on and off Broadway, he has appeared on more than 1,500 TV programs, on about 50 radio programs, and has made more than 30 feature films, in the interval 1955-1990. Currently retired, he has written a number of novels--- as well as being the recipient of an Emmy award for TV scripts in 1975, and an Emmy nomination in 1976.  Here are some views of this versatile character actor at various stages of his career and life.
Tom Corbett and Roger Manning in the flesh. "They always wanta see some ID!"
Frankie Thomas and Jan Merlin (in "uniform") at the March 2002 Williamsburg Va. Film Festival. If you missed them, they were back for March 2003, and again, for the last time unfortunately, in March 2006.
Ready for anything? A very young-looking Jan just after his arrival in Hollywood.
Looks like Indians over there, boys! We'd best go around.
"Lookin' for trouble, Tex? You just found it."
Jan with Kent Taylor and Peter Whitney in the 1958-59 ABC ZIV series, THE ROUGH RIDERS. In 39 episodes, Jan and his sidekicks explored and adventured through the post-Civil-War west.
Jan as a "bad guy" in a late 1950s western adventure. In real life, Jan had an incredibly fast draw, but the plot usually had him outdrawn badly by the square-chinned hero of the film.
"Oh, Scotty!"
"Not with my gal, you don't, you li'l varmint!"
Jan as wild teenager "Scotty Cluett" romances none other than Mamie Van Doren in this tale of teenagers RUNNING WILD!
Jan's character Billy is roughed up by Dale Robertson in Jan's first Hollywood western, DAY OF FURY.
"Don't blow your jets!"
