| Baked French Fries 5 medium potatoes (2 lbs.) 1 Tablespoon olive oil 1/4 teaspoon salt 1/4 teaspoon pepper 1/8 teaspoon onion powder 1 crushed garlic clove or 1 tablespoon garlic powder Preheat oven to 450 degrees. Either peel the potatoes or scrub and remove bad spots. Cut each potato lengthwise into six wedges. Place the potato wedges flat in a baking dish coated with nonstick spray. Sprinkle them with the seasoning and oil, then stir them around. Bake for 30 minutes or until they're brown. Note: This is one of my favorite recipes. We stopped frying food years ago, but I missed French Fries. And those frozen ones you bake just don't taste the same. I also tried those "Shake and Bake" powdered potato mixes, but they didn't taste like French fries. With this recipe you can just use salt and they taste very much like FF. Or you can play with the seasonings, try Cajun, or Tex-Mex. Trust me, you'll never eat a greasy fried spud again. |
