Recipe - 30

SPANGLER'S ORANGE CIRCUS PEANUT GELATIN
7 1/2 oz. (about 30) Spangler's Orange Circus Peanuts
1-6oz. package orange gelatin
1-16oz. can Mandarin Oranges, drained*
2 cups boiling water
1 3/4 cups Mandarin Orange syrup and cold water
2 cups whipped topping

Cut into small pieces the SPANGLER'S ORANGE CIRCUS PEANUTS.  Dissolve the gelatin in the boiling water.  Add the pieces of SPANGLER'S ORANGE CIRCUS PEANUTS, stirring until dissolved.  Drain the syrup from the Mandarin Oranges into a 2 cup measure cup, adding enough cold water to equal 1 3/4 cups liquid.  Add to the gelatin; chill until partially set.  Stir together the Mandarin Oranges and whipped topping; fold into the gelatin mixture.  Pour mixture into a 13x9 inch pan.  Chill until firm.   Yields: 18-3oz. servings.

* May substitute 16oz. of canned, crushed pineapple, drained for the oranges.

Everyone loves this snack.  We've made it with both the oranges and pineapple and can't say we have a favorite. It's good no matter what.  And we're even thinking about using other flavors of Jell-O.  About the SPANGLER'S ORANGE CIRCUS PEANUTS, when we mention these most people have no idea what we are talking about.   They are Orange Marshmallow peanuts in a CIRCUS package with a picture of a clown with balloons. In fact the bag is covered with balloons.  They can be found in most stores with the candy or marshmallows, and sometimes on an end counter display or near a check out. That's how we first got a bag, we were checking out, waiting in line, grabbed a bag, read the recipe and added them to our cart.Oh, and they were on sale too.     ;-)
