Unbeknownst to Seneca, who followed her to New York, she had a brain aneurysm; because of this, she wanted to come back to New York to complete her medical research before dying. A controlling doctor of French Canadian and Seneca Indian descent, Seneca returned to New York in 1975 in pursuit of his wife, Nell, who had left him. He discovered that she had a brain anyeurism, and the two reconciled; unfortunately, soon afterwards, the anyeurism burst and she went into a coma. Against her doctor's orders, he took her off life support and went on trial for her murder. He was sentenced to one week in prison. Afterwards, his attorney, Jillian Coleridge, took him to her beach house, where they found comfort in each other and made love. A few months later, Jill found herself pregnant with Seneca's baby. After the baby (named Edmund Strong Coleridge) was born, however, Seneca discovered it was Frank Ryan's child and not his own. He kept this from Jill, but eventually told her. Jillian and Seneca were eventually married. Tragedy struck when baby Edmund was killed in an explosion at the beach house. Their marriage eventually fell apart. Seneca eventually found another wife in the form of Broadway star Kimberly Harris. Their marriage eventually ended, but not before Kim became pregnant with a child, who she named Arley. Seneca eventually gained custody of Arley.

While in America, he becomes infatuated with Jill's sister, Faith, who bears an eerie resemblance to Meritkara. Spencer dies unexpectedly, leaving no clue to where the shrine is located.
